Google to debut a line of wearable technology

Android Wear will include various innovative tech

After Google Glass was announced and absolutely devoured by the consumers and the press, Google knew that it must create more wearable technology. On Tuesday, Google broadcast that the line of Android Wear was in the works, a specialized version of Android made for wearable gadgets. This line of technology will span across all types of wearable gear, and will firstly start with releasing a smartwatch named Moto 360.

Android Wear was catalyzed to generate pertinent information to its user at the exact moment that it is needed. It is intuitive in a sense, as it will update the wearer with social media alerts, messages, and how to perfectly navigate around a city in a time-efficient manner. The Android Wear plans we’re now seeing is very comparable to the technology behind Google Glass and Google Now. This wearable technology is voice activated and interactive, as it adheres to the “OK Google” method of collecting data.

Android Wear will also be useful in the realm of health monitoring, where users and healthcare practitioners will directly be able to monitor a patient’s stats through an app.

So far, Google has released an exclusive preview version of Android Wear for developers. This preview will allow developers to design new apps and to create Android Wear-ready versions of pre-existing apps for this new tech. In addition, new APIs and resources will be available shortly.

Google is planning to pursue new partnerships with various companies including Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola, and Samsung, in an effort to conglomerate consumer electronic brands within Android Wear. Chip developers like Broadcom, Intel, and Qualcomm will also be included in the development process. It’ll be super cool to see what other wearable technology will be added to the line of Android Wear.
