As presented at CES 2014, Audiovox’s ShutterBall is a remote shutter for your smartphone’s camera, allowing you to snap clear and perfect selfies every time. With this device you’ll no longer have an obvious “selfie arm” taking up a portion of your photo. Press the ball to release the shutter from afar, and the photo won’t even look like a selfie.

The $25 selfie companion is a spherical contraption that you can attach to anything, like your belt or backpack. The ShutterBall remote shutter release gadget allows the user to back away from the phone up to 60 feet when taking photos. To activate the battery, you have to twist the ShutterBall apart, reassemble it, and then download the app for your smartphone. A free app is available from the iTunes store for iPhones 4s through 5, iPads, and iPods. There is a similar app downloadable from the Google Play store for Android operating systems that works with the Samsung S3, S4, and the Galaxy Note 2.

ShutterBall comes with a miniature folding phone stand that holds the phone for you if you’re taking a selfie from afar. Low power Bluetooth is used by the device, allowing for up to 5 years of life for the coin cell battery that is user replaceable.
