Video(s) of the day: Remote-controlled, laser shooting, spider-robot burns things

Want to make something even cooler? Try attaching a laser to it

The same guy responsible for assembling a real-life “lightsaber,” is back with a remote controlled laser-equipped robot. For those of you who haven’t heard, Drake Anthony is a 19 year old laser and pyro-techniques enthusiast, responsible for teaching a myriad of folks across the internet how to build lasers and set things on fire with them. His projects include: a laser built from old computer parts, a Gatling laser-gun, a lightsaber, and most recently, the remote controlled death ray Drone Bot.

“I present my most terrifying laser creation as of yet…the remote controlled death ray drone bot! This beast packs a potent 2W blue laser that fries anything in its path. It can walk around and shoot its death ray at the touch of a button.”

Drake constructed the robot by removing the dart and disc firing attachments of an Attacknid battle robot, and replacing them with lasers. Once the attachments were removed, he tested the two lead wires with a multimeter to determine how much voltage they carried in the first place. The 6 V carried by the two wires is enough to power both his 2W blue laser diode and a red laser pointer.

The end result is a machine that can move around and aim its laser across both the X and Y axis. Once Drake taps a button, the powerful blue laser activates and sets fire to balloons, paper, cardboard, or the retinas of any irresponsible hobbyists. Be sure to wear protective goggles at all time when work with lasers to risk permanent eye damage.

The next step is to pair this gadget up with an Arduino and motion sensor, therbey automating the destruction of flies and cockroaches.
