Wear your heart on your sleeve with new Mood Sweater

Automatically shows your feelings through LED collar

If your life goal is to become a stoic anti-hero with no time for feelings, theeeen I would skip to another article. But if you are overwhelmed with emotions you just can’t express, you should probably stay and look into this high-tech improvement on the mood ring: I bring you the Mood Sweater, a neat new piece of wearable tech that automatically broadcasts your feelings by using Galvanic Skin Response, or GSR (the same technology used to develop the classic lie detector test, so maybe don’t buy this sweater if you have a particular fondness for poker or…con artistry).

Mood Sweater broadcasts your feelings to the public

Developed by the design lab Sensoree, hand sensors connected to the Mood Sweater read your excitement levels and translate them into different colors on the attached LED collar, with each color corresponding to an individual emotion. Sensoree was founded by San Francisco-based designer Kristin Neidlinger, who utilizes her background in kinetic costume design in order to create wearable tech such as this sweater, which has been in the works since 2010, for those with sensory processing disorder.

The sweater’s collar will light up blue if you’re feeling calm and peaceful, pink if you’re excited, yellow if you’re absolutely ecstatic, and red if you’re nervous or in love—which is why if I purchase one I will not be wearing it outside, because I want my feelings about that cute barista at Starbucks to remain private, thank you very much Sensoree (though maybe getting him one isn’t the worst of plans).

This is one of the more fun yet functional versions of the wearable tech currently in the market or in the works, not to mention one of the more flattering designs. The design will be available for purchase in March, but Sensoree is currently accepting pre-orders. Visit their webpage to fill out the Pre-Order Questionnaire for a chance to get one out of their 100 limited edition runs, custom-sized, sized and numbered by the lab.
