µP companion devices provide FRAM and more
The FM33256 and the FM3316 processor companion chips feature 256 and 16 Kbits of nonvolatile FRAM, respectively, combined with an SPI interface operating at up to 16 MHz. Each chip’s FRAM memory reads/writes at bus speed, and has 10-year data retention and virtually unlimited read/write endurance.
The devices also include a real-time clock/calendar/alarm, a 64-bit programmable serial number with lock, programmable low-VDD reset, a programmable watchdog timer, a manual reset, a nonvolatile event counter, and a general-purpose comparator that can be used for early warning power-fail interrupts. They operate from 2.7 to 3.6 V over -40° to 85°C and come in a 14-pin SOIC package. (From $2.25 ea/10,000—samples available now.)
