Smallest 4.7-µF cap replaces larger devices for decoupling apps in portables
The AMK105BJ is presented as the first 0402-sized MLCC to achieve a 4.7-µF rating, thanks to improvements in materials and fabrication processes leading to the development of 30% thinner dielectric layers. The improvements allow designers to use a single device rather than two 2.2-µF 0402 capacitors—or larger 0603-sized components—in decoupling power-line circuits in high-performance ICs found in cell phones, digital still cameras, and other battery-powered portable electronics.
Specifications for the AMK105BJ include tolerance of ±20%, capacitance change of ±15%, and loss tangent angle of 10% max. RoHS compliant, the capacitor features an operating temperature range of 55 to 85C and a voltage rating of 4 Vdc. ($0.15—4 weeks ARO.)
