1-GHz digital scopes offer many features at a modest price
The two-channel Model 9320 and the four-channel 9324 are two
general-purpose digital oscilloscopes. They provide 1-GHz bandwidth,
5-Kpoint memory per channel, 8-bit flash converters, and powerful trigger
modes that include both glitch and pattern detection as well as state- and
edge-qualified triggers. Both scopes also provide two delayed timebases
that can be located almost anywherein addition to the main timebase. Both
models have an equivalent time sampling rate of up to 20 Gsamples/s, and
thus are intended primarily for measuring repetitive waveforms. A
single-shot event up to a few megahertz may also be acquired, with the
scope's single-shot sampling rate of 20 Msamples/s. The 9320/9324 comes
with a number of other important features such as automatic pass/fail
testing, basic math capabilities, persistence and XY modes, and IEEE-488
and RS-232 programmability. DOS-compatible floppy disk and memory card
options, as well as an optional built-in printer, are also available. So,
too, is an optional advanced math package and an FFT package. The
manufacturer's ProBus probe is also included in the 9320/24. This
intelligent probe system provides automatic sensing of the probe type. For
the one FET probe provided with the 9320/24 it also allows offset at the
probe tip and coupling to be controlled from the scope's front panel.
Three standard 1-GHz probes are also provided with 9324 and one with the
9320. (Model 9320, $7,490; Model 9324, $11,490–6 weeks ARO.) LeCroy, Inc.
