The VelociRaptor 1 Tbyte hard disk drive reaches new performance levels with 10,000 rpm operation in a 2.5 inch form factor. The drive comes in an IcePack enclosure; a 3.5-inch mounting frame with heat sink that keeps the drive extra cool and reliable.
The drive uses a SATA 6 Gbit/s interface and a 64 Mbyte cache. It takes 5.10 W in read/write, 4.20 W in idle, and standby needs 1.10 W. (WD1000DHTZ, 1 Gbyte, $320 available now.)
