10-GbE framer/mapper/PHY chips reduce power and save space

The Yahara S10123/0124/0126 framer/mapper/PHY ICs support 10-Gbit Ethernet, metro and long-haul network applications, and meet requirements for Multi-Service Transport and dense wave-division multiplexing (DWDM). By eliminating the need for various external PHYs and interface bridge devices, the ICs enable OEMs to reduce line-card power by up to 56% and space by up 81% for a 10G Optical Transport Unit-2 (OTU-2) transponder and regenerator.

The S10123 supports XAUI/SFI4.P2/SFI-5s protocols and has direct connections to a network processor. The S10124 also works with XAUI/SFI4.P2/SFI-5s protocols and targets Multi-Service Transport and DWDM platforms, and the S1026 is for small-form-factor serial 10G XFP/SFP+ optic modules and 10G backplanes.

The chips operate over the full industrial temperature range and come in 19 x 19- or 25 x 25-mm plastic ball-grid-array packages. (From $210 ea/1,000 samples available 2nd qtr.)
