The quad-port 88X3140 and dual-port 88X3120 PHYs deliver 10G Ethernet over twisted-pair copper cabling compliant with the 10GBASE-T standard. The devices need only 2.5 W/port at 100 m reach and have automatic link detect and power saving modes, along with EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) support.
Both transceivers also have a data center reach mode for links up to 7 m, with 1.9 W power consumption and 1.5 µs latency. The devices interface via XAUI, RXAUI or XFI, with modifications to support SGMII. (Price not given — available now.)
