10 of the most expensive TVs in the world

A list of some very expensive TVs to marvel at

TVs have come a long way since the black and white tubes that first served as the centerpieces of most living rooms in the mid-20th century. We now have flat-panel LCDs and plasma TVs available in a variety of sizes, and for many different prices. Though companies usually prefer making TVs that the average person can afford, there are some made for just a few, due to the heavy price tags the luxurious screens carry.

Stuart Hughes’ PrestigeHD Supreme Rose Edition: $2.26M

Not Samsung, not Panasonic, but it’s Stuart Hughes, a company that specializes in manufacturing and distributing luxury electronics, that offers the world’s most expensive TV. The magnificent PrestigeHD Supreme Rose Edition will set you back $2.26M, and with that comes a TV decked out in an outer frame made entirely of gold, and diamonds for power buttons. About 62 pounds of gold was used to create the outer frame, along with 72 diamonds of 1 carat each. Aside from the shiny stuff, you got yourself an elegantly designed TV with high picture quality.

The Zeus: $1.6M

Zeus_Titan_Screens

Known as the largest TV ever created, the Zeus is a 370-inch custom-made monster. Created by the independent British company Titan Screens, this extraordinary TV is so large that it’s estimated that four elephants can fit inside of it. Of course no factory can pump out elephant-sized TVs, so Titan Screens puts each one together on-site by hand. Measured at 25 feet across and about 14 feet tall, this TV is created by stitching together several smaller screens (though each one is still huge). It may sound like cheating, but the result is what matters, and the final product is one amazingly humongous viewing experience.

Stuart Hughes’ PrestigeHD Supreme Edition: $1.5M

Once again it’s Stuart Hughes with a TV built for the few who are lucky enough to afford it. The PrestigeHD Supreme Edition is a 55-inch TV with 19 kilograms of 22-karat yellow gold. The 48 diamonds on this showstopper are cut in a round shape and weigh 0.75 carat per piece. To top it off, this TV is also studded with topaz and aventurine gems.

C-SEED 201: $680,000

C SEED 201

This TV is so large that it was made to fit in your backyard. With amazing picture quality provided by a 201-inch 16:9 LED screen, you can get into the game as you’re flipping burgers on the grill. At the center of this outstanding system is a multi-source media server that transfers HD video and audio data to the screen by using Windows 7–based software. Created to withstand harsh weather conditions, this system is equipped with wind, temperature, and laser sensors. When not in use, it's stored underground in a waterproof shaft, and all it takes is the touch of a button on the TV's wireless remote control to open the storage shaft, and a pillar-shaped support column rises. The pillars extend as high as 15 feet in 15 seconds, and after reaching its height, seven large screen panels unfold to form the 201 inches of TV.

Panasonic 152-inch Plasma TV: $500,000

Samsung UN105S9 Curved 105-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV: $120,000

Samsung_UN105S9_Cruved_105_inch_4K

This modern looking screen will give you the ultimate immersive experience. With its life-like UHD 4K picture quality you can watch your favorite movie or sport at four times the resolution of full HD. UHD Upscaling delivers the complete UHD picture experience with a proprietary process including signal analysis, noise reduction, and detail enhancement. Along with its panoramic effect, the TV includes an auto depth enhancer, which is an innovative picture technology that analyzes regions of each image and adjusts the contrast for a greater sense of depth, and UHD dimming, which scans zones across entire images and adjusts brightness to deliver deeper darks and brighter whites, eliminating the “halo” effect.

Samsung UN85S9 85-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV: $40,000

Samsung_UHDS9

What separates this LED-backlit LCD TV from the pack is its most striking feature, which Samsung calls its “Timeless Gallery” frame. While the apparatus works double duty by incorporating the TV’s speaker system, the frame can be used as a stand, making it resembles an artist’s easel, and when wall-mounted, it seems more like a jazzed-up picture frame. Either way, the frame/stand allows the TV to be moved around, providing adjustability in placement. Another impressive feature is that that this TV is outfitted with a built-in camera in order to support motion control and Skype video calls.
