The Alaska C 88X5121 dual port 100 Gbit/s Ethernet transceiver IC performs all physical layer functions for 100 GbE over a variety of media including optics, backplanes, and passive copper cables. The IC is fully compliant to IEEE 802.3BJ and 803.3BM standards and comes in a 17 x 17 mm package.
The chip connects to a MAC or switch on its host interface over a 4 x 25 Gbit/s CAUI-4 link. The transmit drive and receiver equalization capabilities of the interface are compliant to OIF CEI-25G LR. The device supports operation from 1.25 to 28.05 Gbits/s and has Reed-Solomon forward error correction function, as well as auto-negotiation and coefficient training protocol. It has a low latency repeater mode for applications not requiring FEC capability.
