The 6–A EN5364 and 9–A EN5394 voltage-mode synchronous buck dc/dc converters are power systems on a chip (PwrSoC). They achieve 93% efficiency and integrate the inductor, power switches, gate drive, controller, and loop compensation, in an 8 x 11 x 1.85-mm package. The 9-A device delivers 100 W/in.2 The parts meet voltage and fast-transient requirements of set-top boxes, LAN/SAN adapter cards, audio/video equipment, optical networking, storage, and servers.
The two parts are pin compatible and have a 2.375 to 6.6-V input voltage range. They offer a 4–MHz operating frequency with output voltage margining and the ability to synchronize to an external system clock. They can also parallel up to four PwrSoC devices.
