11.3-Gbit/s crosspoint switch IC has 8 ports

The VSC3308 8-port 11.3-Gbit/s asynchronous crosspoint switch features enhanced signal equalization capabilities and a 10 x 10-mm PBGA69 package said to be the industries smallest. The chip targets platforms requiring protocols such as PCIe Gen 3, 8G Fibre Channel, OTN, or 10, 40, and 100-Gbit Ethernet.

The IC provides a fully nonblocking and multicasting switch core with detection/transmission of signal (LOS) and native out-of-band support of SAS/SATA storage protocols. The VSC3308 operates on a single 2.5-V supply with a typical per-channel power usage of 200 mW. ($35 ea/volume qty samples available March.)
