Said to be the industry's fastest 12-bit A/D converter IC, the ADC12J4000 clocks in at 4 Gs/s and has a JEDEC JESD204B standard serial interface with data on 1 to 8 lanes. The device has a noise power ratio of 48.5 dB and noise floor of -149 dBFS/Hz, along with high linearity for signals up to and beyond intermediate frequencies of 3 GHz.
While providing RF sampling capabilities with more than 3-GHz input bandwidth, the IC consumes only 1.9 W of power. It has low-power digital-processing blocks that provide filtering and down-conversion. The IC comes in a small 10- by 10-mm package, supply voltages are 1.9 and 1.2 V, and a power down mode takes only 10 mW. Samples Q1 and an eval board is available.
