12-V buck converters have integrated FETs

The TPS54290, TPS54291 and TPS54292 1.5-A/2.5-A buck converters are dual-output synchronous Swift PMICs that target consumer electronics using a 12-V power supply, such as a set-top box or digital TV. They operate from a 4.5 to 18-V input supply voltage, and support output voltages as low as 0.8 V with a 90% power efficiency rating. The TPS54290 is set at a fixed frequency of 300 kHz. The TPS54291 and TPS54292 provide switching frequencies of 600 kHz and 1.2 MHz, helping reduce the dc/dc solution size.

The devices have four integrated MOSFETs that provide synchronous conversion and use 35% less board space than nonsynchronous solutions. They use current-mode control for external compensation and have 180 out-of-phase operation to minimize ripple current. ($2.95 ea/1,000 available now.)
