The AMSR1-78-NZ series nonisolated, dc/dc switching regulators feature pin-to-pin replacement of the company’s 78xx linear regulators. These step-down converters provide regulated output voltages from 3.3 to 12 Vdc, producing maximum output currents of 1 A with 96% efficiency. The 60-mVp-p output ripple and noise make these converters suitable for noise-sensitive applications.
The converter series provides input ranges extending from 4.75 to 32 Vdc to 16 to 33 Vdc. Designed in a 11.68 x 8.9 x 17.5-mm SIP3 package, the converters suit low-profile circuit implementations such as portable power and standby-power applications. They are designed to operate at full output power without heat sinking or forced-air cooling below 85°C. They also provide continuous short-circuit protection, output current limit, and thermal shutdown, and they operate continuously at full load without needing load derating below 71°C.
