14-bit, 4.5-MSPS SAR ADC integrates precision reference in tiny package

Housed in a tiny 8-lead TSOT-23 package, the 14-bit, 4.5-Msamples/s  LTC2314-14 successive approximation register (SAR) A/D converter offers up to 90% reduction in size over competing solutions for space-conscious applications. The part integrates a precision 2.048/4.096V reference with 7 ppm/◦C typical and guaranteed 20 ppm/◦C maximum temperature coefficient into an 8 mm2 footprint.

Additional features include a 3- or 5-V supply, a power dissipation of 18 mW at 3 V or 31 mW at 5 V, a sleep mode with less than 1 µA of typical supply current, and a SNR of 77.5 dB. Accurate dc specifications include a maximum INL of ±3.75 LSB and maximum DNL of ±0.99 LSB. Operating over -40◦ to -125◦C, the part also features a high speed SPI-compatible serial I/O.
