144 x 144 crosspoint handles 11.5 Gbits/s

The VSC3144-11 crosspoint switch IC features an 11.5-Gbit/s 144 x 144 nonblocking matrix that yields 1.656-Tbit/s switching capacity, said to be the world’s highest. The chip features input EQ and output pre-emphasis and 21 W typ power dissipation.

The 45 x 45-mm BGA1072-packaged device has dc-to-11.5-Gbit/s fully differential signal paths with protocol-independent operation. The emerging IEEE/ITU-T standards for 40G and 100G data rates include 4 x 10G and 10 x 10G interfaces, increasing the need for large 10G asynchronous switching.
