The ACS9510 ToPSync timing over packet synchronization device is said to be the first chip to combine IEEE-1588v2 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and SONET/SDH Synchronous Equipment Timing Source (SETS) implementations. The device has a powerful clock-recovery algorithm, precision time stamping with on-the-fly insertion, dynamic adaptation to delay variations, and precision holdover.
The IC enables IP networks to have time alignment between base station nodes or network switches, removing the need for costly GPS modules and oscillators at each node, Time alignment performance is better than ±2 μs on a managed five-switch GbE network under G.826120 test conditions and frequency alignment performance is better than ±10 ppb.
