16-bit FRAM MCU features low power

The MSP430FR6989 and MSP430FR6991 microcontroller have 128 Kbytes of FRAM NV memory and 2 Kbytes of SRAM with a 16 MHz clock. They have either UART or I2 C serial I/O. Active mode current is just 100 μA at 1 MHz when running from RAM and 2.675 ma at 16 MHz running from FRAM. Standby mode takes only 0.4 μA (typ).

The devices have CRC, a 32-bit hardware multiplier, a three-channel internal DMA, a RTC with calendar, an LCD controller, a 16-channel comparator, a 12-Bit A/D converter, 128-Bit or 256-Bit AES security encryption, and a random number generator. The similar MSP430FR59xx does not have an LCD controller. Prices start at $3.35 ea/1,000.
