16-ch LED driver offers PWM gray scaling

Suited for traffic signs, information boards, and other high-quality large panel displays, the 16-channel TB62721 LED driver combines comprehensive brightness control with a on-board PWM capability that provides 65536-step gray-scale control per channel. The driver can deliver output voltages of up to 38 V and provide constant currents of between 2 and 80 mA per channel using just a single resistor.

All of the functionality needed to deliver 256-step output brightness control is integrated into the device. Both the output-to-output accuracy and IC-to-IC accuracy of the TB62721 is 1.5%. Additional features include thermal shutdown, output open and short-circuit protection, and power-on-reset. Housed in an SSOP24 package, the part operates from 3.3 to 5.0 V. Interfaces are fully BiCMOS-compatible, and the device can handle serial input data rates to 30 MHz. (Call company for pricing — available now.)
