The AD7960 18-bit PulSAR A/D converter has a 5-Ms/s throughput that is said to be twice as fast as any other available SAR converter. The converters INL is just ±0.8 LSB typical and ±2 LSB maximum and DNL is ±0.5 LSB and ±0.99 LSB maximum, with operation specified from −40°C to +85°C.
The chip has a dynamic range of 100 dB, a SNR of 99 dB, and THD of −117 dB. The AD7960 consumes only 39 mW at 5 Ms/s. It uses both 5 V and 1.8 V supplies, plus a digital I/O supply. The 5 x 5 mm 32-lead LFCSP packaged IC has a noise floor of 22.4 nV/√Hz relative to full scale input and costs $31.00 ea/1,000.
