The MAX5098A and MAX5099 dual-output dc/dc converters deliver 1 and 2 A of output current, and feature a 200-kHz to 2.2-MHz programmable switching-frequency range. Designed to operate directly from a car battery, the converters integrate load-dump protection circuitry to handle transients up to 80 V and operate down to 4.5 V. They are suitable for automotive applications such as head units, instrument-cluster displays, and car radios.
Available in a thermally enhanced 5 x 5-mm 32-pin TQFN package, the devices can operate 180 out-of-phase with an adjustable switching frequency and use voltage-mode control. An integrated n-channel MOSFET can be used in a high-side or low-side configuration, and be configured as boost or buck converters. ($2.59 ea/1,000 available now.)
