The BCM56160 2.5 Gbit/s enterprise Ethernet switch IC delivers the faster data rates needed by 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi. The device offers up to 24 GbE ports, an ARM A9 processor, and eight flexible Class of Service (CoS) queues per port to assure the lowest latency to high priority traffic.
The IC has 16 copper GbE PHYs and eight 10 GbE stacking or uplink ports configured as XFI, HiGig, or 40 GbE. It comes in a 29 x 29 mm BGA package. Support for EEE lowers PHY power in periods of low traffic, IEEE-1588 facilitates industrial networks, and IPv6 support provides future-proofing.
