The LT8609, a 2 A, 42 V input synchronous step-down switching regulator delivers 93% efficiency while switching at 2 MHz enabling designers to avoid critical noise-sensitive frequency bands, such as AM radio. It features a burst mode operation that keeps quiescent current under 2.5 µA in no-load standby conditions, making suitable for always-on systems.
42 V, 2 A, 2.2 MHz synchronous step-down dc/dc converter operates from 3.0 V to 42 V
The step-down regulator has a 3.0 to 42-V input voltage range and targets automotive applications. Its internal 3.5 A switches deliver up to 2 A of continuous output current with peak load currents of 3 A. The device maintains a minimum dropout voltage of 200 mV at1 A. A minimum on-time of 45 ns enables 2 MHz constant frequency switching from a 16-V input to a 1.5-V output. It is packaged in thermally enhanced MSOP-10 package. An industrial temperature version, the LT8609IMSE operates from a –40°C to 125°C.
