TDK introduced the 2-W and 4-W KAS series AC/DC power supplies, accepting from 90- to 305-Vac (47- to 440-Hz) input, with target applications including security systems, building automation, professional household appliances, portable equipment, and any product requiring a separate standby voltage.
Features include double-insulated Class II construction with 3,000-Vac primary to secondary isolation with output voltages of 3.3, 5, 8, 9, 12, 14, 15, and 24 V with a no-load power consumption of less than 300 mW. The KAS units are encapsulated in a plastic resin fiberglass case, providing additional protection against shock and vibration. The 2-W KAS2 measures 28.5 x 25.8 x 17.0 mm and the 4-W KAS4 measures 37.0 x 27.5 x 17.5 mm.
The KAS2 will operate in ambient temperatures of –40°C to 80°C, derating linearly to 40% load above 60°C. The KAS4 has a temperature range of up to –40°C to 70°C, with model-dependent derating. All the power supplies are certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 and are designed to meet IEC/EN 60335-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives. The series is compliant to EN 55032-B (radiated and conducted) and will meet EN 55024 immunity standards with an external varistor.
