20-kV optoisolator built for rugged certifications

Designed for use in harsh environments and explosion-proof applications, the OPI1268S Series optoisolator is designed to comply with ATEX and ICEex hazardous-area certifications, as well as IP65 environmental-sealing standards. UL- and VDE-rated, it can provide 20-kV isolation and 2-Mbit/s transmission rates.

The device has a 850-nm GaAlAs LED coupled to a photodiode and a high-gain linear amplifier that is temperature-, current-, and voltage-compensated for high output stability. An open-collector inverter configuration delivers ac/dc isolation and typical propagation delay of ≤50 ns. ($5.36 ea / 1,000, typ available stock to 8 weeks ARO.
