250 W quarter-brick converter offers 92% eff

The QMW dc/dc converter features a 9 to 36-Vdc input range with an isolated, regulated 12-V output. It achieves efficiency of 92% through the use of synchronous rectification, advanced electronic circuitry, packaging and thermal design.

The converter operates at a fixed 275 kHz frequency and is contained in a 2.39 x 1.54 x 0.50-in. quarter brick package. It features an input to output isolation of 2,250 Vdc. The output voltage setpoint accuracy is ±1%. Output noise is 120-mV peak to peak. The converter operates from a no-load condition up to the maximum 20.5-A output current. Line regulation is 0.2%, same as load regulation. Load transient overshoot is 5% and the load transient recovery time is 500 μs. The device targets battery powered applications. It provides over voltage protection, input reverse polarity protection, thermal overload protection and short circuit protection. The case operating temperature extends from –40° to +100°C.
