3.3-V wideband PLL integrates VCO

The 3.3 V HMC832LP6GE wideband fractional-N PLL with integrated VCO generates continuous fractional frequencies between 25 MHz and 3 GHz. The part offers low power consumption of 560 mW while featuring a phase noise of –110 dBc/Hz at 3 GHz.

Features include a spurious performance of less than –55 dBc/Hz inside the loop bandwidth, and significantly better performance outside the loop bandwidth (less than –90 dBc/Hz). The part does not emit any channel spurs in Exact Frequency Mode; critical since Exact Frequency Mode is the preferred mode of operation of the PLL/VCO in cellular and microwave radio markets.

The HMC832LP6GE integrated phase detector and delta-sigma modulator can operate up to 100 MHz frequency and allow wider loop bandwidths for optimized performance and lock time. In addition, the device includes Fast Frequency Hopping that can execute any size frequency change in approximately 30 µs and Output Mute function, with 50 dB or better isolation over the full frequency range, to automatically mute the output during frequency changes when the device is not locked.
