32.768-kHz crystal oscillator is industry’s smallest

Allowing electronic equipment manufacturers to not only shrink their products but also boost their performance, the 32.768-kHz SG-3050BC crystal oscillator with dimensions of only 2.2 x 1.4 x 1.0 mm is offered as the smallest of its kind, while also claiming to be 70% and 75% smaller in footprint and volume, respectively, than its predecessor (SG-3030). The device, equipped with the QMEMS crystal chip, offers this size reduction by using its own NPO (New Platform Oscillator) structure, wherein a crystal unit in a ceramic package is sealed together with an oscillation circuit in a molded plastic housing.

In addition, the crystal unit’s characteristics are said to be assured prior to shipment, alleviating the need for users to design oscillation circuits or adjust output frequencies. Features include an operating voltage range of 1.2 to 5.5 V, an initial frequency tolerance of 5.0 ± 5.0 × 10-6 , a current consumption of 2.0 μA at 3 V, and an operating temperature of 40° to 85°C.
