The MC56F844xx/45xx/47xx digital signal-processing microcontrollers have a PWM with 312-ps resolution for accurate control-loop adjustment, dual 12-bit 3.3-Msample/s A/D converters for reduced measurement jitter, and a 16-channel 16-bit SAR A/D for sensors inputs. The cost-effective DSCs are well suited to motor control and digital power control applications.
The chips feature a four-channel DMA, up to 256 Kbytes of program flash, 32 Kbytes of data flash, and up to 32 Kbytes of RAM. The ICs have a voltage regulator and support run, wait, and stop mode operation from a 2.7 to 3.6-V supply. They also feature 10 year longevity. (Less than $2 ea/10,000 available 4th qtr.
