32-bit flash MCUs feature low power

The STM32L151 and STM32L152 series of ultra-low-power MCUs are based on a Cortex-M3 core. They have 64 or 128 Kbytes of flash and 10 or 16 Kbytes of RAM, eight timers, 12-bit A/D and D/A converters, optional LCD control, and SPI, I2 C, USART, and USB interfaces. The ICs’ current draw in normal mode running from flash is as low as 230 µa/MHz.

They take 10.4 µA in low-power run mode at 32 kHz, 6.1 µA in sleep mode with one timer active, 1.3 µA in stop mode with RTC context preserved and RAM retention, and 0.5 µA in full-stop mode. They come in six package types as small as 7 x 7 mm and operate from –40° to 85°C at 1.65 to 3.6 V. ($1.86 to $2.81 ea./10,000 — samples available now.)
