32-bit MCU dynamically adjusts clock speed

The MPC8536E 32-bit PowerQUICC III processor provides advanced power management features, helping equipment qualify for the Energy Star program. The chip implements JOG technology, which lowers power consumption by dynamically changing the maximum 1.5-GHz CPU clock frequency. The device has a 512-Kbyte L2 cache, a security engine, a memory controller with support for 64-bit DDR2 and DDR3, 32-bit PCI, three PCI Express interfaces, enhanced local bus I/O, triple USB, dual SATA, SD/MMC. and two GbE interfaces.

The IC also has a deep-sleep mode using a split power plane to turn off the core and cache and allowing for fast recovery to full operational state. It also provides Ethernet packet filtering for packet-lossless deep sleep. (From $65 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
