32-bit MCU offers connectivity, design tools
Device family has Ethernet, CAN. USB, and free operating system
The high-performance MCF5225x 32-bit microcontroller family offers excellent industrial connectivity, with USB OTG, 10/100 Ethernet, CAN bus, and encryption. Designers now have development tools, including the MQX RTOS (with source code) and communications software stacks, available at no charge.
The family features SPI, two I2C buses, three UARTs, a 12-bit A/D converter, a cryptographic accelerator unit and a random number generator. The encryption module supports DES, 3DES, AES, MD5 and SHA-1 algorithms. The processor clocks at 60 or 80 MHz with up to 76 Dhrystone 2.1 MIPS and has up to 512 Kbytes of flash and 64 Kbytes of SRAM.
An enhanced multiply-accumulate controller (EMAC) with hardware divide capability and a DMA controller enhance system performance. They come in 100-and 144-pin LQFP, and 144 MAPBGA packages. (From $4.93 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
