32-bit MCUs tackle automotive, consumer

The i.MX512, i.MX513, i.MX514, and i.MX516 32-bit processors target automotive and industrial/consumer applications and are based on an optimized version of the ARM Cortex-A8 core. The 514/516 are planned for AEC-Q100 automotive qualification and deliver 600-MHz performance at automotive temperature ranges. The 512/513 target eBook, factory automation, IP camera, and media phone products at up to 800 MHz.

The devices have 32 Kbytes of ROM and 128 Kbytes of RAM, 32-Kbyte instruction and data caches, a 256-Kbyte L2 cache, OpenGL and OpenVG hardware accelerators, and a multiformat HD720p video decoder. The 19 x 19-mm MAPBGA packaged ICs also feature an external memory interface, a security controller, four USB HS and SDIO, SPI, I2 C and UART interfaces, a 10/100 Ethernet controller, and image/video resize, inversion, and rotation hardware.
