32-pin 8-bit MCUs fit tiny applications

The ATtiny48 and ATtiny88 8-bit RISC microcontrollers have 4 and 8 Kbytes of flash, respectively. They consume less than 240 uA at 1.8 V and 1 MHz, and below 100 nA in power-down mode. The ICs feature a 10-bit A/D converter, SPI, and I2C interfaces, and a temperature sensor. They yield up to 12-MIPS performance at 12 MHz.

The chips feature zero-power brownout detection circuitry, ability to power down individual peripherals, and digital input disable registers that remove leakage current on A/D converter input pins. The ICs have an on-chip debug system and come in QFN32, QFN28, TQFP32, and PDIP28 packages. (Ea/10,000: ATtiny48, $0.80; ATtiny88, $1.04 — samples available now.)
