3eTI receives second $10M award for Enterprise Industrial Control System from U.S. Navy

Additional task order on $25M multiyear wireless sensor network contract ensures critical infrastructure protection for Naval District of Washington’s SmartGrid program

Rockville, Md. (June 18, 2012) Ultra Electronics, 3eTI, a leading provider of highly secure wireless network solutions that enable critical infrastructure protection, information assurance and industrial automation, today announced it has received an additional $10M award from the U.S. Navy to expand its Enterprise Industrial Controls System (EICS) built on 3eTI’s EnergyGuard and VirtualGuard solutions. This second award expands upon the energy efficiency achievements made within the Navy SmartGrid Pilot program, extending the EICS solution designed to reduce energy consumption and protect critical network operations to all remaining bases within the Naval District of Washington (NDW).

3eTI’s secure wireless sensor networks implement defense-in-depth (DID) security to protect critical assets associated with the Navy SmartGrid Pilot program at all levels – in particular, those assets that are connected to network operating systems to reduce the risks associated with cyber attacks when implementing control networks.

“Cyber security relating to critical infrastructure is a present and growing concern to government customers,” states Benga Erinle, President of 3eTI. “We are pleased that our products and solutions, with integral and robust DID capabilities, will continue to assist the Navy in meeting its energy security goals, including the Energy Independence and Security Act [EISA 2007] and Energy Policy Act [EPAct 2005] mandates.”

EnergyGuard is an advanced cyber secure sensor networking system that integrates the NDW region’s Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems into an enterprise network. Simultaneously, VirtualGuard enables critical infrastructure protection and connects remote sensors to the Navy’s security operation centers to facilitate alerts, response to, and analysis of security events using its secure wireless intelligent video network system. Like other 3eTI wireless systems, EnergyGuard and VirtualGuard ensure a high degree of reliability and information assurance that complies with strict Department of Defense (DoD) directives for the Navy Information Assurance (IA) and Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements, helping the Navy comply with congressional mandates.
