ARB has Windows-style interface
The Model 295 arbitrary waveform generator (ARB) features up to four
50-MHz synthesized channels and a mouse-controlled, Windows-style
interface that guides the user through waveform creation and instrument
setup. The generator outputs standard and complex waveforms up to 15 Vp-p
with a frequency accuracy of 2 ppm, an accuracy claimed to be the
industry's best in this class of instruments. Each channel is a standalone
ARB with frequency, amplitude, operating modes, and waveforms
independently programmed. For applications requiring synchronized
channels. The generator can operate in a master-slave relationship, with
the slave channels phase-and frequency locked to the master channel. Phase
offsets between channels are programmable. Operating features include 10
standard waveforms in nonvolatile memory; more than 30 complex waveforms
are provided on a disk that can be loaded through an optional
DOS-compatible disk drive. An unlimited number of user-defined waveforms
and instrument setups can be permanently stored with the disk-drive
feature. User-defined waveforms are created from the front panel and mouse
using free-hand draw, line draw, and mathematical expressions. Extensive
editing tools enable the user to modify waveforms to control waveform
shape precisely. Each channel has a horizontal resolution of 32 Kpoints
(128 K optional) and a vertical resolution of 12 bits. GPIB and RS-232
interfaces are standard. (One channel, $5,995; additional channels, $2,995
each–4 to 6 weeks ARO.) Wavetek, Inc., San Diego, CA Jim Wookey
