Suited for class D audio applications ranging from 50 to 150 W including home theater systems and car audio amplifiers, the IRS2093 audio amplifier integrates four channels of Class D amplifier drivers and four PWM modulators — all in a MLPQ48 package. By adding an external MOSFET and passive components, the company claims that the IC can shrink board size by 50% over previous offerings.

The part’s analog PWM modulators offer frequencies up to 800 kHz. The part also features an error amplifier, a PWM comparator, programmable bidirectional overcurrent protection with self-reset control, undervoltage lockout protection (UVLO), and programmable preset deadtime for a scalable power design. Specifications include an offset voltage of ±100 V, a sink/source current of 0.6/0.5 A, a VCC range (with UVLO) of 10 to 15 V, an output voltage of 10 to 15 V, and selectable deadtimes of 45, 64, 85, and 105 ns.
