The VSC3340 asynchronous 6.5-Gbit/s 40 x 40-port crosspoint switch is said to be the first such device to provide power-scaling modes that reduce power dissipation by as much as 54% over existing switches. For broadcast video applications, the device requires less than 4 W for 10-channel HDMI solution.
The 23 x 23-mm device keeps power as low as 95 mW/channel at 3.2 Gbits/s and has multiple protocol support. The IC features programmable input signal equalization of 26 dB at 6.5 Gbits/s and output pre-emphasis of up to 9 dB with single-supply operation and 260-Gbit/s aggregate capacity.
