The ISO7821 from Texas Instruments is a high-performance, 1/1 dual-channel digital isolator with 8000 VPK isolation voltage and a signaling rate up to 100 Mbps.

ISO7821 for TI POD High Res

This device, with a wide supply range of 2.25 V to 5.5 V, is being reviewed for reinforced isolation certification by VDE and CSA. This isolator provides high electromagnetic immunity and low emissions at low power consumption while isolating CMOS or LVCMOS digital I/Os. Each isolation channel has a logic input and output buffer separated by silicon dioxide insulation barrier.

ISO7821 has one forward and one reverse-direction channel. In the event of input power or signal loss, the default output is “high” for this device. Used in conjunction with isolated power supplies, this device prevents noise currents on a data bus or other circuits from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry. Through innovative chip design and layout techniques, electromagnetic compatibility of the ISO7821 has been significantly enhanced to ease system-level ESD, EFT, surge, and emissions compliance. Texas Instruments' ISO7821 is currently available in a 16-pin SOIC wide-body (DW) package. Applications for the device include industrial automation, motor control, power supplies, solar inverters, and medical equipment.
