5-Mp imager gives high-frame-rate HD video

The OV5647 0.25-in. 5-Mpixel CMOS RAW RGB image sensor enables 720p HD video at 60 fps and 1080p HD video at 30 fps, with complete user control over formatting and output data transfer. Based on 1.4-µm sensor backside illumination technology, the imager lets mobile phone designers use existing baseband or application processors to process images.

The chip has 680-mV/lux-s sensitivity and fits standard 8.5 x 8.5-mm camera modules with z heights less than 5 mm. Use of 2 x 2 binning doubles sensitivity and improves SNR, and a post-binning resampling filter removes image-edge artifacts and minimizes spatial artifacts.
