500-Gbyte 2.5-in. HDDs are low power

The MJA2 BH/CH series 2.5-in. SATA hard-disk drives feature an industry-leading 0.5-Tbyte capacity. The drives have a read/write power consumption of only 1.4 W, a reduction of 33% from previous models, and feature 12-ms read seek time.

They run at 5,400 rpm and use a fast SATA 3.0-Gbyte/s interface. The MJA2 CH version supports AES hardware-based full-disk encryption using a 256-bit key size. ($50 to $130 — available 1st qtr 2009.)
