500-MHz PC scope takes 5 Gsamples/s

The four-channel PicoScope 6404 PC-based oscilloscope has an analog bandwidth of 500 MHz that’s matched with a 5-Gsample/s sampling rate to ensure accurate representation of signals/signal components whose frequencies fall within the scope’s full bandwidth. For in-depth waveform analysis, the scope’s 1-Gsample buffer memory can capture complex waveforms even when sampling at full speed.

The scope also has a built-in function/arbitrary-waveform generator, switchable bandwidth limiting on each channel, mask/limit-testing capability, and switchable 1-MΩ and 50-Ω inputs. Spectrum analysis, advanced triggering, and serial decoding are also standard features.

The scope connects to any Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 computer with a USB 2.0 port. In addition to standard control software, a software development kit, which lets users create custom control applications or routines for using the scope as a digitizer, is available for free. (£4,995; kit with four 500-MHz compensated x10 probes, £5,495 — available now.)
