60-V buck controller operates to 150°C

The H-grade version of the LTC3824 current step-down dc/dc controller is guaranteed up to a 150°C operating junction temperature and suits automotive and industrial applications. It has a 4 to 60–V input range that supports automotive cold crank and survives inductive load dumps without the need for external clamping circuits. This H-grade device provides output voltage from 0.8 to VIN at up to 5 A and is packaged in a thermally enhanced MSOP-10 package.

The dc/dc controller can be configured for burst-mode operation reducing the controller’s no-load current draw to 40 µA and has a 7–µA shutdown current. It can be programmed to a fixed frequency from 100 to 600 kHz. The device features programmable current limit and soft-start, along with overvoltage protection. ($2.55 ea/1,000 — available now.)
