600°C thin film parametric test system installation

Electronic parts supplier, Signatone, has just completed the installation of an advanced semiconductor thin film materials characterization system for low and high temperature studies of conductivity, IV curve, impedance, and charge/recharge performance. The Combinatorial Synthesis and Rapid Characterization Center in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Maryland under the direction of Professor Ichiro Takeuchi will use this system to characterize libraries of electronic, magnetic and smart materials, as well as thin-film battery and fuel-cell devices. The system features a 600° thermal chuck and a water cooled platen for thermal protection from the ultra-high temperature testing. The Signatone model WL-250 was chosen for the application because of its unique ability to maintain such high temperature test environment and its automated measurement features. The acquisition of the system by the University of Maryland was funded by the Office of Naval Research under the Defense University Research Instrumentation Program.
