Two 65-V, 150-mA synchronous dc/dc buck converters with 10.5-μA quiescent current target applications requiring high efficiency, including factory automation and automotive sensors. The industrial-grade LM5165 and automotive-grade LM5165-Q1 micro-power step-down regulators feature a 3- to 65-VIN range, and a pulse frequency modulation or a constant on-time control mode to optimize efficiency.
The wide input of the regulators helps handle the highest transients in industrial sensor and programmable logic controller applications, as well as start-stop and load-dump conditions for 12-V/24-V lead-acid and emerging 48-V Li-ion automotive batteries. The converters have integrated dual MOSFETs to reduce PCB area, while a programmable current-limit scheme reduces inductor size. Both regulators operate at junction temperatures up to 150°C. The LM5165-Q1 is AEC-Q100-qualified for automotive applications. The 10.5-mA standby IQ with no load enables 90% conversion efficiency at 1- to 10-mA loads.
