8-bit MCUs balance power, performance

The power-efficient Flexis MC9S08QE32 8-bit microcontrollers feature a 50-MHz CPU core, 25-MHz bus speed, and a 32-kHz oscillator that takes less than 7.3 µA. The devices have two low-power stop modes, low-power run and wait modes, 6-µs wake-up time from stop, and gating registers to disable unused peripherals.

The chips have up to 32 Kbytes of flash and 2 Kbytes of RAM, a 10-channel 12-bit A/D converter, SCI and SPI communication interfaces, and on-chip ICE debug with three comparators and nine trigger modes. They operate from 1.8 – 3.6 V at –40° to 85°C. ($1.69 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
