8-bit MCUs offer USB, low power, tiny package

The PIC16F1454, PIC16F1455, PIC16F1459 and the PIC18F24K50, PIC18F25K50, PIC18F45K50 8-bit microcontrollers offer tiny packages and cost-effective, pin-compatible migration options. The 14- and 20-pin PIC16F145x low cost MCUs have 8 Kwords of flash, an A/D converter, Full-speed USB, and an 16 MHz oscillator block factory calibrated to ±0.25%, typical. They are available in packages as small as 4 x 4 mm and have an operating current of just 25 µA/MHz at 1.8 V, typical, and sleep mode current of only 25 na.

The PIC18F45K50 MCU is a 40 or 44 pin device with 32 Kbytes of flash and USB 2.0, 20 nA sleep mode current, and A/D and D/A converters. It features 1.8 to 5 V operation, and charge time measurement unit for cap-touch sensing or other applications. (PIC16F145x from $0.50 ea/high volume; PIC18FXXK50 family from $1.68 ea/5,000 – samples available now.)
